Trekking: Proposals of Long Walking Routes

Through the ancient villages. From Cerreto di Montegiorgio to Mogliano Marche: The itinerary winds through the Fermano countryside. Departure from a tiny and ancient medieval village up to a seventeenth-century church surrounded by greenery, between tales of stories and legends, retracing a part of the pilgrims' journey towards Rome. Duration of the route 2.30 hours (about 9 km). Trekking clothing, aged 7 and up.

From Farfa to Rome. From Montegiorgio to Piane di Falerone: The itinerary winds through the Fermano countryside. Departure from the monumental temple of S. Francesco (with adjoining frescoed Farfense chapel), lapping the cursed Rocca di Rinaldo da Monteverde, up to the Roman theater of Piane di Falerone. A path that combines Benedictine monasticism, Lombard nobles and the Roman character of these lands.
Duration of the route 3.00 hours (about 10 km). Trekking clothing, aged 7 and up.

Along the Roman roads. From Servigliano to Penna San Giovanni: The itinerary winds through the Fermano countryside. From the Tenna river to the Salino stream. On the tracks of the Apennine Sibyl up to the old baths called the Saline.

On the trail of hermitages. From Montefortino: from the Gola dell'Infernaccio to San Leonardo al Volubrio: The itinerary, which starts from the plateau of Balleria (where, according to legend, the Sibillinic fairies used to descend) winds through a gorge, bordering the impetuous Tenna river, until the hermitage that belonged to the Benedictine monks, opening up to a luxuriance of nature.

The pilgrims' journey. From Amandola to the Sanctuary of the Ambro: The itinerary winds through the pre-mountain centers. Departure from the small church of S. Maria in Augello (Amandola), crossing some uninhabited villages, up to the Sanctuary, destination of pilgrimages since the Middle Ages. Duration of the route 3.30 hours (about 12 km). Trekking clothing, aged 7 and up.

The path of the Franciscans. From San Liberato di Montegiorgio to Selva di Massa Fermana: The itinerary starts from the hill where the artist Osvaldo Licini retired in contemplation. Starting from the small rural church you reach another small temple called San Pietro di Gagliano, from there passing some waterways, you reach the Selva di Massa fermana near which stands the ancient Convent of the Franciscans. It hosted the Saints Bernardino of Siena and Giacomo della Marca. Friar Ugolino da Montegiorgio, drafter of the Franciscan Fioretti in Latin, defended Andrea da Gagliano from the accusation of siding with the Spirituals.
